Trip to Mysore was a sudden plan. So I filled up full tank of extra premium from Indian oil petrol bunk because it gives extra mileage. Early morning around 6.30 am myself and family member of 4 started from house we took Mysore road. The road was not so clumsy because of early morning and traffic was also very less.

The route map from Bangalore to Mysore passes through Bidadi > Ramanagaram > Channapatna > Maddur > Mandya > Srirangapatna > Mysore

Bidadi One can see several “Paradise - Just 30 Kms from Bangalore  There is an amusement park called ‘Wonder La’ which is near Bidadi. It has several different dry rides, water rides and kiddy rides and a good getaway for parents with little kids and a ‘Innovative film city’ close to that.

Ramanagar is the next town along the way. It’s a town that has a lot of granite quarry activity. That big hit, Sholay  is supposed to have been shot here. (The parts with Gabbar and his hideout) For those with an adventurous spirit, this place offers rock-climbing opportunities. Just a few kilometers past Ramangar, this would be a good place to take a quick break for breakfast before proceeding further.

The next place along the route is Channapatna, very famous for its wooden toys manufactured by small scale industries. Just 5 kms before Channapatna is the Kengal Anjaneya Swamy Temple. This place is about 60 Kms from Bangalore.

Maddur is the next town. This place is popular for a particular type of vada made with onions. It’s called the Maddur Vada.

Next on this route is the very popular town of Srirangapatna. There are several places of interest in Srirangapatna. After few Kilometer from srirangapatna threre is a left turn road which goes to Sangam – The confluence of 2 rivers – Arkavathy and Kaveri On the banks of the Kaveri. At Sangam, there is a Nimishamba Temple. A very powerful Goddess (named Parvati) who is believed to free her devotees from their troubles in a jiffy. Hence the name, Nimishamba (Nimisha means minute). (I have been here too, with my family, on an earlier visit specifically to this temple)

The road close to Sangam also has the Daria Daulat – the Summer Palace of the famous king,Tipu Sultan.
The Ranganthitu bird sanctuary is also near to Srirangapatna.
After that we have reached at junction from where we took left turn on the way to Chamundi Hills we have visited the famous Chamundeswari Temple. We have done pujas over there.

These gardens are famous for the illuminated dancing fountains that come to life after sunset. There is also a small Aquarium to vistit.
